Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026. How your privacy is protected.
1. What Stays on Your Device
Privatera stores your identity, contact records, and conversation history locally on your device. Private keys are stored in password-encrypted envelopes and used through non-extractable browser Web Crypto handles while unlocked. Local records are encrypted at rest. We operate no user accounts, no central contact directory, and no master key escrow.
2. What the Relay Transiently Sees
To connect two browsers, Privatera routes encrypted frames through an in-memory edge relay. Peer-to-peer session encryption protects text, signalling and Room Call audio. WebRTC calls require DTLS-SRTP plus additional media encryption. The relay has no access to message content, voice streams, participant identities, or contact names. As with any internet service, network-level metadata (IP, timing, size) is visible to network infrastructure while connected; Privatera does not log it.
3. No Stored Message Content & No Application Logs
Active routing state is released on disconnect, with no stored message content on the relay and no application traffic logs (encrypted deletion commands are retained for offline peers until execution is acknowledged).
4. Accountless & No Third-Party Trackers
Privatera is accountless by design: it does not use tracking cookies, does not load third-party analytics or tracking scripts, and does not collect emails or phone numbers.
5. Bilateral Deletion
Either participant can trigger a bilateral wipe at any moment. A deletion request is sent to the peer and honored by compliant clients; it cannot be enforced against modified clients or copies already made.
